As a family of Oak Creek, one of the most exciting aspects of being part of a strong community is taking advantage of the numerous opportunities available for our children. We all recognize that they grow up fast… and exposure to new experiences is a way to cultivate their development; physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Some organizations focus on specific options which is great when your child knows exactly what they like to do. However, most of us realize that our kids just don’t know until they try something. With that in mind, we really enjoy the vast array of options offered by the Oak Creek-Franklin School District Youth Programs Department. If you haven’t checked out the catalog or website, it is a “must explore”!!!
We have three very active sons, each with their own particular interests, often left undiscovered until they give something new a try. In addition to offering a variety of local and convenient options, the Youth Programs Department has provided us a way to test out their interests without making an overpriced or extensive commitment.
From a sports perspective, the boys have enjoyed the swim program, basketball leagues, soccer, baseball and volleyball clinics and much more. They even took up skiing, which has evolved into a fun family past time.
To add some breadth, we also signed them up to attend the numerous options offered by Club 3:05 including cooking, chess, fine arts, and STEM classes. This was a great way to find other aspiring interests that they can build on.
To expand our son’s musical interests, he tried out another instrument through an exceptional “Strings Program”. This represented a combination of music, culture, and learning.
As a busy family, we all know how important it is to have confidence in your selection for after school care. The ASPIRE program has been exceptional for our family as they not only offer structured care for the kids, but they do it in a way that shows they care about the families in the convenience of our own school.
We appreciate what the Oak Creek Franklin School District Youth Program Department offers our family and encourage you to give them a try. As a proud member of the Oak Creek community, we look forward to sharing more experiences with other great families. Who knows, maybe our kids will sign up for the same activity in 2020 and beyond!!!
